LightHouse’s vision was simply to create and design a rotating house in any setting, be it in a rural, urban, or suburban area. They wanted to make good use of the sun’s power all-year round and come up with an ambitious undertaking that can be considered a potential prototype for the future of environmentally-friendly homes.
After years of careful planning, the lighthouse design was born. An earthquake resistant house, this revolving house or structure turns around efficiently and effortlessly, allowing homeowners to make the most of the weather and the views.
Our LightHouse Model
The LightHouse team has created a number of rotating houses and earthquake resistant structures. We offer our clients different rotating and kinetic house variations to give them the opportunity to choose a design that suits their needs and preferences.
One popular variation is our Variation A - With All Windows with a total floor space of 1,200 sq. ft., divided among two levels. The first floor has a floor space of 1000 sq. ft., while the second floor has 200 sq. ft.
It has two bedrooms with built-in closets and one master bedroom. If there is sufficient space, it can be customised with an ensuite toilet or shower. Other rooms that can be included in the standard layout are the living rooms, dining space, entranceway, kitchen, and storage areas.
Why are our lighthouses a worthy investment? Let the features below speak for us:
1. Rotating House
Our designs are generally octagonal in shape. They can complete a 360-degree rotation in about 45 minutes or an hour, so homeowners won’t hardly notice that they are moving.
Each house has a PLC or programmable logic controller for controlling the rotation, allowing one to take advantage of the season. For instance, homeowners can decide whether or not to follow the sun or shade in the rooms they want cooled. They can also move to the verandah to catch the breeze. If they want to wake up with the mountains in view, they can use the PLC, too!
2. Energy Savings
Our lighthouses can be customised with many energy-saving features. We can add underground water tanks to capture rainwater for the toilet, laundry or garden. We can also install solar panels to generate the right amount of energy for electricity to power the house.
In addition, we can design your house to have a natural ventilation system. We can optimise natural wind and sunlight to provide fresh air and light by turning the house into our out of the wind and sun’s directions.
3. Pedestal Foundation
Is your land located in a flood prone area? Does a fault line exist in your region? Then the pedestal foundation of our lighthouses might be another feature you might be interested in. This foundation can be modified to support the structure in times of calamities like earthquakes and floods.
4. Environmentally-Friendly Structure
The LightHouse team respects Mother Earth. And we want you to experience the best that the earth can give. That is why we make sure to avoid damaging the trees and land in the process.
Perhaps, one of the best features of a revolving house is that it’s a very stable structure. It can withstand strong wind forces and earthquakes more effectively than a square or rectangular-shaped structure. It’s designed to direct the wind around it rather than resist it.
How Our Rotating Houses Are Built
Depending on the design and the features that you want, the building process of a rotating house varies. But here at LightHouse, we follow these general steps:
1. Purchase the land where you plan to build your revolving house.
When choosing a land, some of the factors you need to take into account are the soil stability conditions, sun patterns, views, slope, and the accessibility of services like water, electricity, and sewer. If you already have a piece of land, then have engineers inspect and assess it. Make sure it is ideal for building revolving structures.
2. Book our services and settle payments.
Once you have a piece of land in mind, contact us for the payment process. Our team is happy to help you prepare all the documents required.
3. Process the building paperwork.
After settling your payments, the processing of the paperwork and building permits will follow. At LightHouse, we will assist you with the submissions. You can reach out to us prior to preparing documents, so we can ensure that you have the right documents ready.
4. Prepare for the construction.
At this point, we help prepare for the construction. Our engineers will provide all the necessary information to the contractor of the foundation.
5. We prepare the materials needed for your lighthouse.
While your contractors are working on the foundation, we start building your lighthouse. Once done, we will arrange the transportation of your structure. We will inform you that your lighthouse is ready for delivery.
6. Work with the contractor to start assembling your lighthouse.
As soon as everything is ready, we will then coordinate with your contractor to start assembling your lighthouse. We will offer on-site technical assistance during the assembly, free of charge. That is a part of our House Purchase Agreement.
